WINTER DEVELOPMENT TEAMS
September – January
Tennessee United Winter Teams are designed to be the next step beyond rec basketball—offering families a structured, high-quality development experience without the full travel-team commitment.
Running from September through January, our Winter Teams provide consistent training, intentional coaching, and a professional environment focused on long-term growth. Players receive a built-in two-week break over Christmas, allowing families to enjoy the holidays and return refreshed for the second half of the season.
WHAT MAKES OUR WINTER TEAMS DIFFERENT
Professional Training Environment
All practices and training sessions are held at Triple F, giving players access to a first-class development facility that mirrors higher-level basketball environments.
Proven Player Development Curriculum
Every team follows the Tennessee United curriculum, teaching the game from the ground up. We emphasize fundamentals, spacing, movement, and decision-making so players truly learn how the game works—not just where to stand.
USA Basketball Gold Licensed Coaches
Our coaches are USA Basketball Gold Licensed and trained to teach the game the right way. Practices are intentional, organized, and designed to help players grow both on and off the court.
Teaching the Game — Not Just Plays
Practices include short-sided games and small-group teaching that build basketball IQ. Instead of memorizing set plays, athletes learn how to read the game, make decisions, and understand the why behind what they do.
A True Development Focus
Winter Teams prioritize:
-
Skill development and confidence
-
Conceptual understanding of offense and defense
-
Team play and unselfish habits
-
A positive, structured learning environment
COMPETITION STRUCTURE
Winter Teams will compete in seven weekend events, including a mix of a Knoxville-based league and 2–3 tournaments at TNT, providing the right balance of development, competition, and local convenience.
THE TENNESSEE UNITED STANDARD
Our Winter Teams reflect the Orange Standard and the One More mindset—bringing energy, accountability, and professionalism into everything we do. Families can expect clear communication, consistent coaching, and a program that values growth, effort, and character just as much as performance.
This is basketball done right—intentional, developmental, and built for the long term.
